NATIONAL HEALTH CENTER WEEK 2019

Throughout the week of August 4th, health center organizations, patients, staff and supporters across the country celebrated the amazing work done by health centers and highlighted how much they are “Rooted in Communities” which was this year’s National Health Center Week (#NHCW19) theme. Hundreds of health centers nationwide held thousands of events, showcasing the work of providers, patients, volunteers, staff and all who make health centers operate to serve 28 million patients across the country!

In California, members held various events across the state. The Sacramento Native American Health Center treated community partners to coffee, while WellSpace Health hosted an event showing off three state-of-the-art ultrasound machines at its Women’s Health Center in south Sacramento, which were gifts from the Anthem Blue Cross. Golden Valley Health Centers hosted a NHCW Stakeholder Appreciation Mixer at their beautiful new location in Manteca, while Community Medical Centers hosted a Healthcare for the Homeless Block Party. In Southern California, Northeast Valley Health Corporation hosted multiple events throughout the week including Managed Care Enrollment fair, where enrollment counselors were made available to help patients navigate through health coverage options, and a Children’s Health Day, where they distributed kid-friendly cookbooks and provided health and wellness resources.

CaliforniaHealth+ Advocates and our partners across the state also joined in the #NHCW19 fun. On Monday, August 4th, staff at CaliforniaHealth+ Advocates and the California Primary Care Association, celebrated health centers and how they’re rooted in communities, with a “root” themed pot luck.

Thank you to all the members who contributed to another year of incredible NHCW visibility and success in California!
